National Honor Society Hosting Drive-Thru Dr. Seuss Night
We hope to see you all at Dr. Seuss night!
February 25, 2021
Every year, TJ’s National Honor Society hosts a Dr. Seuss night to encourage literacy among students. The event is typically held at TJ in a gym so that families can walk through the event. This year, however, things are different.
Due to Covid guidelines, the event is being held as a drive-thru. This way, families can drive through the event maintaining distance between themselves and the NHS volunteers. All volunteers will be wearing masks and following covid safety regulations.
Typically, at the event, students play games to win prizes or complete Dr. Seuss crafts. To keep things safe, NHS volunteers will play the games for the students, all families will receive a take-home craft, and each child will receive a free book.
“The Dr. Seuss event has been an opportunity to bring literacy to the forefront,” explained Carla Hartenhoff, NHS teacher advisor. “Not only does it continue to bring the passion of reading to the children in our community, but it is also a way to share community resources with families. Although this year is different from any other year that the event has taken place, Family, Inc. felt that it was important to still share our resources with families in our community.”
On top of the games and activities, the event will feature community resources for the families. There is also the option of free dental screenings in Family Inc’s new mobile wellness unit. These resources and dental screenings are optional but are available to anyone that wants to take advantage of them.
Dr. Suess Night will be held Saturday, February 27th from 2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. at the Charles E. Lakin Human Services Campus N. 16th street, Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Masks are required to drive through the event so make sure to bring one. We hope to see you all there!
