The movie The Outpost is based on a true story about a small unit of U.S. Soldiers at a remote Combat Outpost Keating, which is located in three mountains of Afghanistan, where their mission is to fight off the overpowering force of Taliban fighters in an ordered attack. 

Staff Sergeant Clint Romesha, played by Scott Eastwood, is a Former U.S. Soldier who was given a Medal of Honor for his duties during the Battle of Kamdesh in 2009 during the War with Afghanistan. Clint was a leader to his fellow soldiers and friend to many.

Specialist Ty Carter, played by Caleb Landry Jones, was also given a Medal of Honor for his actions during the war. Carter was disrespected and unwelcome by the soldiers he worked with. Ty Carter was earlier enlisted in the United States Marine Corps, but was honorably discharged. That is when he made the choice to join the United States Army. 

During the War, Carter, Gallegos, SPC Mace, SSG Martin, and Larson were all pinned down inside of a humvee as they were being attacked. Once Romesha learns that Kirk, a fellow soldier, was wounded, Romesha gives approval to SGT Hardt and SGT Griffin to plan to rescue Gallegos’ group. In Carter’s plan, Larson and Carter protect the others, Gallegos, SPC Mace, SSG Martin, so they can escape the humvee and get to safety. As their plan quickly fails, Gallegos and Martin sacrificed their lives for their country and were devastatingly killed, and Mace was severely wounded. Carter and Larson see Mace on the ground, and they couldn’t leave him behind, so they ran to his rescue and carried him to safety at the Aid Station.

I think the soundtrack to the movie was put together very well. As moments in the movie become more intense, the music follows the movements on screen. The cinematography was effortlessly done. The way the camera moved with the way the actors shifted made me feel like I was inside the movie. My favorite thing about the movie was the storyline. As someone with countless family members in the Military, the actions of Romesha and Carter brought me to tears. 

I recommend this movie, because it shows people that you can have enough courage to do anything. Clint Romesha and Ty Carter were two normal soldiers, but one gesture changed their lives forever.
