The following was emailed out to staff and students of TJHS on April 23, 2020.
I hope this email finds you well! I am starting to receive some questions about the status of the yearbook. Feel free to share this as needed!
As I mentioned on our Jacket Journalism social media in March, we have sent our main book to print, with an on-time original delivery date towards the end of May (in “normal” circumstances, I wouldn’t know the date until all books have been printed). The goal was to get books distributed before the seniors’ last day.
Within the last week, our yearbook company permanently closed their California plant, moving all yearbook printing to one plant in Tennessee. I was told that this won’t affect our schedule, but I still don’t have a delivery date. And, with school buildings being closed down, we will be shipping to a district location. Once it’s been cleared to be in groups, we’ll happily have a distribution party as we’ve had in the past, but again, I don’t have a date right now.
The insert is currently being worked on by our Yearbook leadership. If you’re a student and have photos of yourself being socially distant (even playing video games), let us know what you’re up to with some photos! If you’re an athlete, how are you staying sharp? If you’re in a fine art, what are you working on? IF YOU’RE STAYING BUSY, HOW ARE YOU DOING? Send me a photo and a short caption and we’ll get it in the book. (TEACHERS TOO!)
Because of our deadline issues, we won’t be able to have the class of 2020 graduation ceremony in this book, but we will have whatever that will look like into next year’s book.
Worst case scenario: books can be picked up next school year at TJ. I personally believe we’ll get something figured out for a summer distribution (if we’re able to get it done). Please watch email and/or Jacket Journalism social media channels (Twitter, Facebook, Instagram, YouTube) for more updates as I can confirm them.
